HypnoBirthing

Childbirth- the most natural process in the world and something we’ve all witnessed! Either first or second-hand! However, rather than thinking of it as something every mother goes through and an empowering time, it’s regarded with fear and the focus is on the pain of labour rather than the simple and beautiful process it truly is.

In the 1920’s, the English obstetrician Dr. Grantly Dick-Read discovered that, when the expectant mother was fearful and worried, it merely caused more discomfort and the birthing process was lengthened and unfortunately, more painful! After dedicated research, he concluded that when there was no fear or tension, the cervix thinned easily as more blood was diverted to the uterus. Thus the baby was born more easily, as the body was allowed to work in a more natural manner.

Hypnobirthing is an effective way of reducing fear and tension about childbirth, as it enables the expectant mother to take control of her experience, rather than feeling helpless and unable to cope with the process ahead of her. Hypnotherapy empowers the mind and strengthens self-confidence. Making the expectant mum happier and less stressed about what’s to come.

Hypnobirthing involves both Mum and Dad, decreasing worry and stress on both sides and at the same time, allows you to welcome your baby into a more peaceful and relaxed world. Hypnobirthing diminishes the power of the pre-birth worries, fears and stresses, whilst empowering the expectant Mum and giving her control and choice. From the start of the contractions to labour itself, Hypnobirthing clears the mind and enables the new Mum to concentrate on the important part of birth- seeing your baby for the first time!

Being relaxed during birth is important as our breathing is even and rhythmical, rather than sporadic and hasty. Regulated breathing ensures a high level of oxygen enters the blood, this oxygen goes to the baby, making he or she feel calmer and more stable. It also stimulates the production of Oxytocin, a hormone that triggers endorphins and controls contractions.

Feeling so relaxed means that blood pressure remains stable and
less energy is consumed. Not only that, but less tension affects the womb and ensures that the contractions are smooth and more effective, shortening labour times. Also, by allowing natural endorphins to kick in, less medication is actually needed.

Hypnobirthing is a process that effectively cuts the tension any expectant mother is feeling. It’s natural to feel nervous and slightly discomforted, after all, we all fear the unknown. Discovering this alternative way to reduce tension and stress and enhance the truly beautiful experience of birth should set any expectant Mum’s heart at rest!

Mark has a programme of 4 sessions (with a fifth being available if necessary for the Father-to-be,) that takes you through self-hypnosis training and offers 4 CDs to support you, up to and throughout labour, and right the way to the beginnings of your new family life.

Using hypnotherapy, Mothers-to-be are taught how to relax themselves, both before childbirth and during the birth itself, and because of this your baby benefits from a more peaceful (and often much faster) arrival too, increasing the natural bonding process for all three of you for the best possible start to family life.

The expecting Father or Partner

It can be simple to forget the partners of expectant Mothers and to misjudge their importance when it comes to the “big day”. Mark includes Fathers and Partners in the Relaxed Childbirth Programme; calming their pre-birth nerves and helping them to continue to offer support before, during and after the birth.

Now you can prepare the three most important people for a wonderful experience; something you can look back on in years to come as the first magical step in your child’s life. The sessions begin at around week 34 but you are welcome to call Mark anytime on 654202996
